Remember the days of My Little Pony, Barbie, Ninja Turtles, Rugrats and Care Bears? Well, I’m pretty sure I had each of those characters peeping back at me from the front of my grade school lunch box at one point or another throughout my childhood.
I remember my second grade lunch box donned a green background with blue detailing and every Scooby Doo character on the front! By fourth grade I had moved on and up to the brightly colored animals designs of Lisa Frank… (is that too old to still tote around a lunch box? Pretty sure that by fifth grade my mom switched us over to brown paper bags).
And you can’t forget the matching thermoses! It was all about the lunch box and thermos combo. Side Note: The thermos was almost always as big as the lunch box itself….
It’s fun to think how these back-to-school staples played such a significant role in my life at that age. Kind of like my own bit of personal style, grade school edition!
As you can see from above, I had quite a few favorites! Heading over to my parents’ house tonight — hopefully they still have some of my old ones and I can start the vintage lunch box/purse trend. Thoughts?
What lunch box did you carry as a kid?
