The City: Recap of Episode 8

Loved the episode, hate Olivia. That's kinda harsh, but she's just so rude! I think Jay's feelings were completely justified and he handled himself quite well.
I can't wait to watch next week, mostly because I want to see if Jay ends up moving in with you :)

It's refreshing to me that you are so down to earth along with Jay and the rest of your friends. Please don't EVER become an "Olivia". She really seems like some fictional character plucked from a ridiculous storyline somewhere. Don't ever change the way you are! And kudos to you for sticking up for Jay. Especially after he went outside his comfort zone to do that.

Wow, what a massive amount of immaturity on display last night! You were kind enough to invite Olivia along to hang out and she does nothing but sabotage the entire night! Did she REALLY need to change right when you said you were in a rush?! And the whole "getting Jay a gig" thing was supposed to look like an apology, but I think she did it to show you that you are better off with her and the Uptowners (I think not!) than with Erin and Jay. The worst part is that when you called her out on it, She-who-answers-your-personal-calls-and-constantly-gossips-about-your-personal-life suddenly doesn't want to talk about it at work!!! Trust me, Whit, you are so much better off without her in your life.

Tamarama rocked the place, regardless of the mishaps. I have "Sunday Morning" & "Everything To Me" as ringtones on my Sidekick and I'm looking forward to seeing them do well.

I really hope Erin can figure things out next week. I'd like to see her get back with JR, but be honest w/ Duncan about it.

I don't know. It's easy to side against Olivia, but Jay doesn't exactly have his hands clean either. He was making a lot of fun of her and her world too. I get the impression that Olivia hasn't exactly had it easy in her world there up until this point. I kinda feel for Olivia and Jay both... and at the same time, I don't feel bad for them. I feel like nobody is in the right here. I know we're only getting an outsider perspective, but it seems like they both don't know each other all that well, but they're quick to say all these pretty harsh things about each other directly or about each other's "scene". You're all from pretty different worlds - it's not really fair to judge each other based on your own standards. I hope you all can find some common ground with each other.

This is kinda ridiculous. I don't know why MTV keeps showing Nevan on TV since he is a convicted criminal. Who is he to be judging other people when he has picked up and been arrested for picking up a prostitute? Why does Olivia expect for them to change their attire for a charity event? Do they expect the Foo Fighters to play smooth jazz and wear suits? Come on. I want to see Olivia go to Africa and actually live without electricity and clean water. Maybe she can actually learn to be humble that she has all these luxuries. These people need to grow up.

Olivia is dumb. One, she should give herself her own advice. She's the one who initiated the conversation about the night before and then she's going to say you shouldn't talk about personal stuff at work. Bitch, take your own advice! Why is she telling you? She should tell it to herself. I hope she reads your blog. Plus, the way Jay's band dresses is their image. You won't go tell a hip hop star to dress in country attire, vise versa. It's Olivia's fault for not doing HER research on what band is more suitable for that event. She's lame. Tell the producers no one will be sad if she's off the show.

I feel like Olivia is a major bitch. A band has it's own style and no big band or good band dresses for occasions. They do their own thing and thats part of the lovelyness that is having them at a event!

I just had to visit your site today for the first time to see if anything was said about Olivia and clearly everyone has their own comments. I just don't know how you don't rip her a new one? Omg, I've never seen U that pissed off in my life. Of course u never showed it in the Hills and now on the City, WOW. When Olivia asked U at work about how you felt and how U told her, she couldn't take the negativity of her, so she blamed it on U to leave outside stuff outside, and work related stuff at work. That was soo stupid. It's so not your fault. It's hers, shes the one who brang it up. I seriously was heated and wanted to slap her in the face.

I like the city but I don't like Olivia. She's so mean and jelouse of you! I think she needs a bf to keep her entertained and out of your life. She probably also needs a good fuc* and if nobody is willing, I'm sure her cousin Nevan won't mind. Then again Nevan will probably pass cause he's so gay.

Olivia is trying extremely hard to be Blair Waldorf, which is pretty funny at times. Honestly Whitney, I can completely understand your frustration. She is a very difficult person.

I must admit that much like Blair, as a CHARACTER, I enjoy watching her very much, but I would never want to have to deal with her in real life.

Okay, so Whitney I hope you really read all these...although I can't imagine that you do. But anyhow, I wonder if it's really you writing these recaps...? A few times now you have said things like "smart ass little comment" and that just seems...not like you, right?

Anyhow, miss Whitney, you certainly do seem to handle stressful situations well. I loved that after Olivia BROUGHT UP the topic of her charity event and THEN said that it was "nor the time, nor the place" (oh man...) to talk about it, you could put your feelings aside and just calmly let it be. I don't think I could have done that, and you have much to teach us in that respect, I think!

PS - you did a fantastic job of handling Jay's comment about mingling with the commoners. That was pretty funny, you have to admit, but you did a lovely job restraining your laughter. Be proud!

Olivia is absolutely the worst person on this show. She says that work is not the place to have personal conversatios but yet she was the one who asked Whitney in the first place how she felt about the night before. Her eye rolling and constant looking down on people makes me sick to my stomach. I do not understand why she is on this show anyway. I guess she is the resident b*tch but someone needs to slap her.

I just got done watching last weeks show, I am shocked at the way Olivia and Nevin acted, first of all the way I look at it is Jay did her a huge favor the band she had backed out and she could not find anyone else nor did she want the headache of making a boat load of calls, so she should of thanked Jay and the band, second Jays band does not have to dress in a suit Neil Diamond would not dress in a suit!!!!! she is the biggest snob ever....this is no joke, I would of choked her by now if I ever had to work with someone like her, she has no respect for other people, everyone in this world is different and if we could chane anything we would get rid of the Olivia's in this world, so fake and so rude the way she spoke to you, I really hope you only keep a working relationship with her, do not talk about your life or what you did over the weekend and if she ever asks just tell her, I don't want to feed you to much information....lol my god did the back of your head feel ike it was burning with her sitting behind you??? you do not deserve to be spoken to like you are some iddiot and so disrespectfull to you on tv, you are the better person because I would of done some damage, hey Whitney does Erin have a website to write to her?? i have no idea if you will actually see this Whitney, but i just wanted to suggest a great book that helped me understand how to play the "politics" without the drama in a job situation...and what to do when there is drama= it's called The Big Girl's Guide To The Workplace and it truly helped me understand how poli-tricks can be poison. i realize the show is taped weeks ahead of time, but next time you go to your favorite bookstore-or just search it on-line-trust me-you will appreciate the read.
