WHITNEY EVE SPRING COLLECTION, 2009
So my older sister Ashley is getting married in April and I am the maid of honor!!!  That's actually Ash and her fiance Evan in the photo above.

I'm so excited and flattered to have been given such an important role in this, but I have only been to one wedding in my life and have absolutely no idea what I am doing!!!

Does anyone have any special bachelorette party tips for me??? Any suggestions at all would be SO greatly appreciated -- I need all the help I can get! LOL.

Well, at one bachelorette party my friends and I with the bride all walked across the town before the part and gave pieces of paper to random people to write good wishes for the couple, also we asked a radio station to call the bride about a week before the wedding and tell her that there has been a misunderstanding at the jewelry shop and that their rings won't be finished by the time of the wedding, because "there was no more gold left in the world ":D:D at first she believed it and was quite angry, but then she realized that it was impossible and we had a great laugh :D
So just be creative and I wish you good luck :D

For my bachelorette we actually all went to NYC!!! We just did a day trip and first did the Sex and the City tour where they take you everywhere they film the show! It was great! Then of course went out afterward for a night of dancing!

Hi Whitney, I've been to several parties, and here are some games:

- Get into groups of 3 or 4, and give each group a roll of toilet paper. Each group needs to select a model. The toilet paper will be used to make the wedding dress for the model. The future bride gets to pick the winner of the game.

- Get into groups of 5 or 6. Each group will have a spoon with one end of a long string (about 15 yards) attached to it. Directions of the game: Each member needs to form a line standing side by side. The spoon is then passed to each person. Each person has to put the spoon in and out of a piece of clothing. And each person has to do something different. Eg. person #1, puts spoon thru the shirt, out the bottom of the shirt, #2 puts it thru the skirt. By the time it reaches the person in the end, the game begins. The spoon has to go back to the first person. Basically they need to unstring themselves. First group to do it is the winner. So it will be fun seeing the string pull some pieces of clothing... =)

Also, during gift opening.. set aside all wrapping paper, bows, ribbons, and tissue paper. These will be used to create a wedding dress, tiara, and other stuff, for the future bride herself.

Hope you like them! Happy planning!

hey Whit! Wow that's huge! I've been to like 10 weddings in my life and I gotta say that everyone does stuff in their own way. Definitely get a planner to help you out. I would recommend having the bachelorette party at a nice restaurant or at a venue, you wanna have all the friends there! And for the wedding day, be sure to be there watching everything cause your help will be needed in everythign from pictures to the reception to the ceremony and everything in between! Good luck and keep us updated with how you're doingwith this!

Here are a couple of things! I have been to quite a few!

First you need to find out how she feels about strippers. The guys can have them, then why can't we? I have been at and hosted home parties where the pizza guy (or similar) comes to the door, gets invited in and then proceeds to entertain. If you do this, then I would suggest a few cocktails prior to his arrival, especially if the mother or mother-in-law is there. You can also go to bars that host bachelorette parties and they can provide the entertainment for you which will most likely occur in a private room. Also, I live across from Canada and have gone there to a strip club for one party. You can't have the male ones in the states, only the female ones. Though, the Chippendales are allowed in the states periodically.

For home parties, you can go to different party supply stores and get novelty type pans, ice cube trays, glasses, straws, games, etc. Just look for the bachelorette area.

For home and bar parties, you can go to bakeries and ask them for the bachelorette designed cakes and they will show you a book with a few examples.

For bar parties, I suggest that you visit the bachelorette section of the party supply store first. You might want to dress the bachelorette up before she goes out. You can get crowns, necklace shot glasses, and the best is the bachelorette T-shirt. The T-shirt is a lot of fun. It has a list of different things that she has to do throughout the night by talking to guys and get checked off. It's like a scavenger hunt. You might need a to ask for a piece of clothing, find someone that will buy you a shot, find someone that has been married and get a piece of advice, etc. It is just a really fun thing to do.

You also need to decide if the presents should be nice or are allowed to be, should we say, interesting. You might want to specify on the invitation if there is a preference or write nothing if it doesn't matter to the bride.

I think that should about cover it. Just have fun with it! Good luck, let us know what you decide and how it went.

VEGAS, baby!

As I am getting married in August!!... my sisters (MOHs) are currently planning my bachelorette! First things first, ask your sister what she imagines her bachelorette to be like and plan accordingly.

Some places that I'm considering:
-Cabo
-Las Vegas
-Canada
-Cruise
-Martha's Vineyard

Really it's just about getting all the girls together to have a weekend filled with girl time. Don't forget to pick her up nice lingerie!

Congrats on your sister getting married! That's so exciting, and getting to be the maid of honor. A fun movie to watch beforehand would be "Made of Honor" with Patrick Dempsey, if you haven't seen it already.

Mimosa's are a great drink to serve at bachelorette parties-- they seem to have a wide appeal.

If you're looking for an item to add to goody bags or prizes, I would suggest a bamboo fabric (so soft!) flax seed filled eye pillow. One of my hobbies is putting together gift baskets, so I'm constantly on the search for great products. The Bucky EyeLove Eye Pillow is my obsession at the moment( www.bucky.com )because it feels HEAVENLY just coming out of the freezer. BTW, I'm not affiliated with the company in anyway, I just really like their product-- enough to recommend it.

The toilet paper wedding dress game is a must.

On another note, not to sound stalkerish, but are the white lace leggings you wore shopping in the Meatpacking District in NYC Kova & T? I have the black ones but didn't know they came in white (if they are indeed Kova & T) and would like to get them.

Whitney,

Congratulations on being given such an honor!! Your sister obviously trusts you, and you know her best, so you know deep down what would be most fun for her. I would say that it will be very special for her if you really put yourself into it, while still incorporating things she will like...

But since you are so highly involved in the fashion industry, you could totally take that and run with it...

It might be super cute to have a brunch and "fashion show" for her. DESIGN shirts for each of the guests (who will be your models) with one word or phrase celebrating Ashley and Evan. Each of the "models" (guests at the shower) can come down the runway wearing her special shirt (and maybe even carrying her gift to give to ashley then), while you emcee the show, explaining the significance of each style.

Also, you could put together a LOOKBOOK for her. A wedding shower kind of sums up her life thus far, and then gives her an idea of where she is going. So have everyone send you a favorite photo of Ashley paired with a fun written memory of a time they spent with her (and Evan if possible!) when they send in their rsvp. Then compile these into a lookbook of sorts for her...you will have all the tools you need for the "past" section, and then leave blank pages with your wishes for her future at the end of the book, which time can help you write.

I really think this would be a great way to put your heart into this! I have so many more ideas- I love things like this! But if you need anything else, just holler! (I'm sure your webmaster has access to the email addresses we provide when we all write on this wall...)

much love!

Hi Whit,

I just have one small idea which I actually picked up from one TV show, but I thought it's pretty cool. Here in Germany, most girls as well as the guys simply go out and party as their bachelorette party, but I would like just a girl's day:

So why not pack all the girls and go to some reaaally great spa, best somewhere a little away from home and spend the whole day there with facial treatments, massages and so on. In the evening you then sit together and watch chick flicks and drink some prosecco or something. Just a thing you wouldn't do with guys.

Have fun planning it and on the bachelorette party and the wedding and much love to your sis!

xoxo - Mona

The best bacholorette party gimmick i've seen (and it's quite tacky, but still fun) was the bachelorette had to wear a tank top that had "bachelorette: text me a dare" and a phone number on it (just a disposable one of course) then all through the night the people at the restauant and the bars and even in the street were sending in ideas. It's kind of cheating, but was lots of fun.

Love, love, love your show by the way, can't wait to get back to New York later in the year. And i'm sure you've been asked this a thousand times but where did you get that cute black dress you wore to your DVF interview?

I had my bachelorette weekend in New Orleans and it was amazing. It was a 3 day weekend with a bunch of my friends. We stayed at the W in the French Quarter and it was perfect. We saw the city during the day and went out dancing at night.

I organised my best friends bachelorette weekend in the hunter valley in australia. (ps we do live in sydney, but i am sure you guys have something similar in the US) Anyway, i organised a limosine that sat 20 of her closest friends and family and it picked us up and took us to the hunter and took us on a winery tour which included lunch and of course the wine :). I also arranged the accomoation. I was this beautiful old big country house with a maid and buttler. The best thing was, in the morning there was a chef who cooked up a beautiful breakfast and waited on us hand and foot! (Oh he was also only wearing he's boxers while doing so) All up it was a memorable experience for my friend, her friends and family. (It's so important to ensure you remember that the bachelorette party includes older people as well as the younger ladies, so a weekend away of pampering is a fab idea! xox

I thought this website:

http://www.bachelorettepartyguide.com/

was really funny and when I was planning for a friend I looked at this. It lets you pick different kind of Bachelorette "characters" and then base the theme around that. As I think you are probably the only one that really know your sister that well you should pick something that really reflects her character. Does she like to drink a lot, values friendship, likes it really fancy, ? I always think drinking games are so much fun, how young or old you are and scavenger hunts (like when you give her a list of things she has collect in a night, for example one guys boxers ;).

Good luck!
xo Sonia

Wow I feel super cheesy right now but I love the show! You have a great, down to earth personality.

What an exciting time in both her life and yours!
I am engaged, and getting married in 2 years (I need to finish nursing school first!)

There are plenty of great websites with fun games to play. The best ones involve scavenger hunts where all the girls can get involved. They have cute checklists and trinkets online.

You're really creative so I'm sure you'll find some great ways to make the night unforgettable!
Have a blast, and congrats to your sister!!

Hi Whitney!

I lived with your sister Ashley when we were at SC. I have no contact info for her anymore, and would love to get in touch with her. If you get this please let me know how I can reach her. Congrats on your success!

Thanks!

Hi Whitney,
Congratulations to you and your sister, she is beautiful! I am more into the non traditional take on this rite of passage, and think it is always better to do something with meaning versus just going out and hitting the bars. How about a girls weekend away at a spa? Or a girls night in with yummy foods and cocktails? You could have each girl write or make a page about all the things they love about your sister to put into a book/photo album? Make her feel special and make it meaningful. You know her best!

Whitney,

You have to go to a party destination like Vegas and give her a bachelorette party she'll never forget!

Love ya xxx

Whitney, the best tip for an awesome party is putting all of your sister's favorite things together for an amazing night, food, drinks, places, people. Picking up some games is also so much fun with a large group of girls!

--Hope this helps.
xx
